The Tell-Show-Do Approach
Dr. Carroll uses a technique called tell-show-do with anxious young patients. She explains what she is going to do in simple, age-appropriate language, shows the child the instrument or tool before using it, and then proceeds gently. This removes the element of surprise that makes many children tense and builds trust before any treatment begins.
A Space Designed for Kids
Our private kids' waiting area has movies and a play space, giving children a comfortable, familiar environment before they come into the treatment room. Parents can also take comfort knowing the area is monitored, so everyone feels at ease from the moment they walk in.
Scheduling That Works for Families
We can often schedule two family members at the same appointment, which means fewer trips and less disruption to your day. Bringing a sibling or parent in at the same time can also help younger children feel more comfortable.
When We Recommend a Specialist
If a child's anxiety or treatment needs go beyond what can be managed comfortably in our office, Dr. Carroll will refer to a pediatric specialist rather than push forward. Your child's comfort always comes first.
